Fearless Fourteen- Release Date Announced!

Attention all you Stephanie Plum fans: The Release Date for the next book in the series, Fearless Fourteen, is June 17, 2008!

Sign up for GPLD's Automatically Yours service and the library will place your name on hold for this book when it is published, so you won't have to worry.

Since June is 5 months away, get your Stephanie Plum fix now by reading Plum Lucky, the newest "between the numbers" book by Janet Evanovich. In this St. Patrick's Day tale, Diesel is back to help Stephanie rescue Grandma Mazur. Grandma Mazur took some money from a "leprechaun" with ties to the mob and, as always, Stephanie finds herself up to her teased hair in trouble.

Some spoilers, but nothing huge.

How I wish I could recommend Fearless Fourteen like I can the first 12 books of this series. But a lot is "off" in this book, and that makes it a sad day for all Plum fans. The characters are unrecognizable: a Merry Man faints, Lula becomes deceptive and downright unlikable (something I thought could never happen), Joe's wild past is elaborated on in WAY too much detail, and Stephanie's exuberance and Jersey-girl attitude is just muted and on half-power. There are sub-plots that just meander on with no closure, devices that are supposed to be funny but completely miss the mark(turning someone blue for no reason whatsoever is not funny at all), and recycled plots and scenes from previous books. It truly feels like Ms. Evanovich lost her love for her characters in this book - her previous excellence with villains and laugh out loud scenes just isn't there. I can only hope she finds her former greatness in next year's offering.
