Stephenie Meyer

Stephenie Meyer, author of the wildly popular young adult series Twilight, has a science fiction novel coming out soon The Host : A Novel. Although the book is marketed for adults, her older teen fans might enjoy it as well.

You can read more about the author in a Time magazine article. The library has a copy, and you can also read it online at http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1734838,00.html

Not Just for Young Adults - Part 6

Sarah Dessen is one of the Young Adult Librarian's favorite authors. She writes wonderful realistic fiction. In her newest novel Lock And Key : A Novel , Ruby, abandoned by her mother, must go to live with the sister she has not seen in ten years. Throughout the novel, Ruby encounters interesting secondary characters as she learns to trust.

Although I did not enjoy it as much as my personal favorite The Truth About Forever, I would recommend the book to anyone looking for a good story about what it means to be a family and a friend.

April 14, a Titanic day in history

On this day, April 14, in 1912, the Cunard liner Titanic struck the iceberg that would ultimately sink her the following day. Why not commemorate this historic day? Here are some possibilities:

Swoon with Kate and Leo and enjoy that Celine Dion song while watching the 1997 James Cameron film, Titanic.

Learn the Secrets of the Titanic while watching the first team to photograph the sunken ship.

Listen to the Titanic film music on Back to Titanic.

Read the classic book about the disaster, A Night to Remember, by Walter Lord.

Toast the doomed ship and her lost souls with a tall, iceberg--okay, ice-cube--filled cocktail. Get a recipe from the downloadable ebook 1000 Best Bartender’s Recipes.
